Do You Have to Use Cream Cheese?

There are many different cheese options out there and each one has its own purpose. Of course, some of these may be interchanged but it is important that you use similar types for the best results. For instance, you may decide you want to try a cream cheese recipe for a soup. There is likely a reason that they selected cream cheese to use which might be the fact that it does not melt the same way a mozzarella does and they want the soup to have some weight to it. But you may not like cream cheese or have any handy, but you might have another cheese in your fridge that has similar properties. You likely can substitute this in without much difficulty although it may change the flavor a bit. It is up to you if this substitution is worth it, you may prefer to wait for your next grocery store visit to give it a try.
